Bodegas Antaño. The magic of a great winery.

This is the characteristic white wine region of Castilla y Leon. Its history goes back to the 14th century, and today 29 wine cellars are located here, mainly within the provinces of Valladolid and Segovia. It has a surface area of 6,000 hectares of vineyards, with the Verdejo grape variety predominating, in 72 municipalities in the provinces of Valladolid and neighbouring Segovia and Avila. The high degree of specialisation reached in the elaboration of white wines, together with the use of a noble variety such as the Verdejo grape, which is autochthonous and grown exclusively in the area, makes the Rueda DO emblematic of Spanish white wines.

Established on a high plateau of soft relief, the Rueda Denomination of Origin extends its vineyards over extensive and characteristic stony terrain, an exceptional habitat for the Verdejo grape variety. The influence of the river Duero, the long winters with their frequent late frosts, and the extremely dry and hot summers are factors that determine the characteristics of the Rueda area. Rainfall is scarce, being approximately 480 mm/year over 83 days. 2,800 hours of sunlight each year allow the vines to develop an intense activity of photosynthesis, which serves to form and mature the grape. In normal years it reaches a natural proof grading of over 13º.
